Backup Help for CD-R and DVD-R

Many people install their mod chips, go to play their backup and find that it doesn't work. Of course the first reaction is to blame the mod chip. The mod chip gets a very bad rap in this case because 99% of the time it is not the chip's fault. The number one cause of problems is incorrectly backing up your DVD or CD!

Games may be in either CD or DVD format. Most newer games for the PS2 (and all games for the XBOX) are on DVD. All games for the original Playstation are on CD. To backup a DVD game, you need a DVD burner. To backup a CD game, you need a CD burner or DVD burner.. 

DVD backup help:
WE recommend using Alcohol 120% or NERO Burning Room for PS2 and XBOX games! If you can't find a copy of either We may be able to point you somewhere you can... Just ask.

The most important thing you need to remember is that using cheap media and high speeds is a sure way to kill your unit!!!

DVD+R will work on most of the newer units, but not all units are alike! The best way to find out is try it and see what works for you!

CD backup help:

We recommend using the following program on your PC to backup your games: CDRWin by Golden Hawk
Technology (http://www.goldenhawk.com). This is, in our opinion, the best program for making backups of PSX CD's. (When using CDRWin, click the "Backup Disc" button.)

Whether you create an image, or execute a CD-CD copy (if your recorder supports it), you must not extract or copy tracks. The CD must be copied in DAO (Disc At Once) mode.
